Crafty Brewers Week to Feature 130 Events Across 70 Bars and Restaurants

SYDNEY Craft Beer Week has announced its 2015 program for the October festival which will now feature more than 130 events in 70 bars, restaurants, breweries and outdoor spaces across the city.

Sydney Craft Beer Week director Joel Connolly says the events, launching October 16, will be the biggest yet and reflects the growth in the craft beer market.

“It’s a broad demographic but if you want to go to the pointy end there are a lot of beer nerds in it,” says Connolly. “They are digitally savvy, they work in technology, and they have a high disposable income. But the middle end is broadening now to include women and older guys who may have been drinking Tooheys all their life.

“The fact is that the process is exactly the same if you make a 20 litre batch of beer with some mates or a 50,000 litre batch.”

Highlights include an official SCBW Beer, created by Batch Brewing Co, a chance to
meet the brewers behind the epic San Diego brewery, Stone, at The Local Taphouse and Dave’s Brewery Tours, which will offer transfers between larger events, including the return of the SCBW Ale Yard to World Square, and public transport hubs, as well as curated bus tours.

For the first time, SCBW is going interstate, with one dedicated venue in each capital city to profile Sydney beers during the festival.
