After Sydney's sunniest weekend since December, cloud cover quickly rolled in this morning with a southerly change.
The first three days of February were as gloomy as they come, with extensive cloud cover and more than 70mm of rain.
Daytime temperatures during the first three days were well below normal, averaging just 21 degrees, making it the coolest string of February days since 2002, Weatherzone senior meteorologist Josh Fisher said.
The skies finally cleared just in time for the weekend, with close to 11 hours of sunshine on both Saturday and yesterday.
The temperature also rebounded, reaching as high as 27 degrees yesterday.
The brief glimmer of sunshine disappeared in the blink of an eye this morning as a southerly change drew cloud over the region.
The sun will break through periodically today, but showers will develop this evening as the winds tend towards the south-east.
The cooler south-east winds, cloud cover and showery weather will remain the dominant feature during the next week.
This will also work to keep temperatures down in the city, and they will remain in the low to mid-20s.
