NSW records slight rise in domestic tourism - Sydney Hotels

New South Wales Tourism Minister Jodi McKay says there are positive signs for New South Wales in the latest tourism figures.

The latest National Visitor Survey shows a 7 per cent increase in domestic tourism numbers for the December quarter.

The situation is not as rosy in other states, with Victoria and Queensland both recording falls.

Ms McKay says today's result follows last week's news that international tourist numbers to Sydney have also increased.

"All our stakeholders tell us that their rooms are full, that they're employing more people, that cafes have got people sitting in them and eating," she said.

"We've got people coming in through the airport, so all the indicators for us a very positive."
