Japanese Pop Star Promotes Sydney - Thelma Aoyama


Up to 7.5 million Japanese households are tuning in to see Japanese pop singer Thelma Aoyama share her experience of Sydney and the Blue Mountains on MTV. Tourism NSW, Jetstar and Tourism Australia are working in partnership on the campaign. Ms Aoyama spent four days in Sydney and the Blue Mountains as part of the Discover My Day in Australia campaign.

Her experiences were captured by an MTV film crew, which has produced a 30-minute segment airing a number of times on the popular MTV Japan channel, giving Sydney and the Blue Mountains strong exposure among young Japanese viewers.

Ms Aoyoma’s itinerary included a harbour cruise, shopping, cafes in Paddington and Surry Hills, Manly Beach and bushwalking in the Blue Mountains. The campaign website includes Ms Aoyoma in Sydney and the Blue Mountains. Jetstar is advertising travel packages in Japan as part of the campaign.
