Madame Tussauds is a wax museum in London and has expanded with branches in Sydney, Amsterdam, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Las Vegas, Shanghai, Berlin, Washington D.C., New York City, and Hollywood. The current owner is Merlin Entertainments Group. It was founded by wax sculptor Marie Tussaud and was formerly known as "Madame Tussauds. Madame Tussauds is a major tourist attraction, displaying waxworks of historical and royal figures, film stars, sports stars and other celebrities. Marie Tussaud was born as Anna Maria Grosholtz in 1761 in Strasbourg, France. Her mother worked as a housekeeper for Dr. Philippe Curtius in Bern, Switzerland, who was a physician skilled in wax modelling. Dr Curtius taught Tussaud the art of wax modelling. One of the oldest surviving sculptures by Curtius is of Madame du Barry. Tussaud created her first wax figure, of Voltaire, in 1777. Vivid Sydney will return in 2021

It’s good news for Sydney after it was announcement that Vivid Sydney (Light, Music & Ideas Festival) will be returning in 2021. This will be the 12th year the award-winning light show will run, with it being cancelled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Jan Mackenzie is the Head of Operations at Cafe Sy dney – a rooftop restaurant on the edge of Circular Quay. She describes Vivid as being a “dynamic” time of year for their business, and is looking forward to its return in 2021. “Vivid has totally enhanced our business at that time of year,” Ms Mackenzie says. “Prior to Vivid we saw our revenue drop in winter, but since it’s started that curve has flattened.” In 2019, 2.4 million people attended Vivid Sydney, generating $172 million in tourism expenditure.
