Madame Tussauds Sydney hosts side-by-side with Home and Away Star Ray Meagher
Ray Meagher, most famously known as ‘Alf Stewart’ from the iconic Australian TV series Home and Away, stood side-by-side his wax self for the first time at Madame Tussauds Sydney today.
Upon meeting his wax figure, Ray said, ‘I can’t help but describe this as a bizarre experience – I’m standing next to myself!
“I feel so honoured to be immortalised in wax and the figure is spot on. I take my hat off to the team at Madame Tussauds for capturing every single intricate detail; it looks almost real and they have done an incredible job. I just wish my infamous frown was a little more friendly to work with!”
Ray’s figure is known to be one of the most popular at Madame Tussauds Sydney, with many visitors citing the uncanny likeness of the figure, “The detail of Ray’s figure is just incredible – the likeness is just absolutely outstanding,” commented Hywel Mathias, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Sydney. “Every time I’m walking through the attraction, I always think it’s really Alf staring back at me. The team has done a stellar job in recreating one of Australia’s most loved TV personalities.”
Creating a Madame Tussauds wax figure is no easy feat. Involving a dedicated team of over 60 artists and sculptors, the team takes approximately 800 hours to create one figure, including colouring the figure with special oil based paints, which takes several days to complete.
As the thirteenth Madame Tussauds around the world, the local Sydney attraction is now permanently open and boasts an all-star cast of over 70 figures, including some of Australia’s home-grown legends, A-list celebrities, sports heroes, rock legends, world leaders and many more.

Opening hours: 9am – 8pm daily
